The Language
of Seabirds

an independent collection of six songs

SONGS FROM A STORY / NO. 001

SIDE A / A NOTE FROM THE MAKING

Some books
don't let go.

This collection began with a wish to stay in the world of Will Taylor's The Language of Seabirds a little longer. The songs grew out of conversations about Jeremy and Evan, first love, secrets, small gestures, and the strange weight an ordinary moment can carry.

Rather than simply retell the chapters, the songwriting focused on one emotional shift at a time. A flash of color. A familiar drink. The difference between being noticed and being understood. Little details that change everything because of who was there.

The writing and sound were developed through an iterative, AI-assisted songwriting process, with Suno used to create the music. This is a personal, independent creative interpretation, not an official soundtrack or adaptation.

FROM THE WRITING NOTEBOOK

What stayed
with us?

Flash of Red explored the first spark of noticing someone and the feeling that follows.

Only Soda took an ordinary object and let a small moment carry more meaning.

You Saw Me and Separate, Secret and Safe approached the feeling of being seen without losing safety.

Because It Was From You explored the threshold between feeling something and finding it returned.

Curlew connects to the story's private bird language, where curlew carries the meaning of goodbye.

These connections come from the earlier songwriting conversations. The surviving history does not establish a reliable, line-by-line origin for every recording.
